Ay, qué partido. The Galaxy went down 2-0 to the Colorado Rapids in the first half at home and I almost turned off the TV — but mijos, they didn't quit, and they won it 3-2. That's the whole story right there: heart when it counted.

Colorado came out flying. Donavan Phillip scored in the 4th minute, a left-footed shot from the left side of the box set up by Josh Atencio, and the living room went quiet. Then in the 39th minute, Paxten Aaronson made it worse, a right-footed finish from the center of the box off a Rob Holding assist, and by halftime it was 2-0 Rapids. My nephew already wanted to change the channel. I told him, mijo, sit down, we don't leave the table before the food is finished.

And look what happened. Early in the second half, Pablo Ruiz picked up a yellow card for a bad foul — not proud of that one, but okay, it happens when a team is fighting. Then in the 53rd minute, an own goal off Reggie Cannon, confirmed after a VAR review, made it 2-1. The tide was turning. In the 66th minute, João Klauss leveled it at 2-2 with a left-footed finish from the middle of the box. And then, ay, the 74th minute — Justin Haak, a header from close range off a Robert Taylor corner, and the Galaxy were ahead 3-2. That's how you finish a comeback, with your head, literally.

The vibes in that second half were everything. On the replay, you could see Colorado's goalkeeper give the ball away right in front of his own net for the Klauss equalizer — a gift, but the Galaxy still had to be there to take it, and they were.

Look at the numbers and it's a funny game: Colorado actually had more of the ball, 60.4% possession to the Galaxy's 39.6%, and out-passed them 529 to 347. But the Galaxy put 15 shots up compared to Colorado's 9, and got 7 of those on target versus Colorado's 4. Possession doesn't win you anything if you don't shoot, mijo. Erik Thommy led the Galaxy with 4 total shots, Pablo Ruiz ran the show with 41 accurate passes, Jakob Glesnes was all over the field defensively with 13 interventions, and JT Marcinkowski made 2 saves to keep it close enough for the comeback to matter.

Discipline-wise, Colorado picked up three yellow cards to the Galaxy's one, and honestly, when you're chasing a game like the Galaxy were early on, staying disciplined the way they did says something about the team.

The Galaxy move to 9-9-10 on the season and now lead the season series with Colorado 3-2. My heart can't take many more nights like this one, but qué barbaridad, what a win. I'll take it, and I'll sleep good tonight.
